Artists’ Book Library

E17 Art Trail, Map No. 37

Thursday 10th September 2009
From 3-8pm at Walthamstow Central Library

A collection of artists’ books for you to browse and demonstrations of simple book making structures for you to try out yourself.

Artists are invited to submit their own artists’ books, publications and other relevant artworks to be a part of this temporary library collection to be shown in Walthamstow Library for just one day.  Artwork submitted can take any form relating to books whether ‘bookworks’, fanzines, one-offs, multiple editions, paper ephemera and publications such as exhibition guides which you have been included in.

Artist and arts organiser Laura Kerry, has for a long time been fascinated by books as a medium in her own artwork.  She is inviting contributions from artists, local and further a field, to build this transient collection.  Also at the event will be some samples and demonstrations of simple book structures which visitors will be able to have a go at making for themselves.

Please contact Laura Kerry for more information.  Please also feel free to propose any book making demonstrations of your own.

E17 Art Trail Commissioning Project
This year we applied to the Arts Council England for a small grant towards three artist commissions during the art trail.  We are very pleased to say that we have been successful and are now selecting from the proposals already submitted.

Submissions are now closed.

Two commissions will be awarded to visual artists showing new work in an exhibition during the E17 Art Trail.  A further commission will be awarded for an individual or group to produce an online blog as a creative piece of work and a document of the art trail and other commissioned work.  The intention for this project is to offer practical support to artists wishing to develop their work and showcase it during the E17 Art Trail.

Each of the three commissions has a fee of Ł1,000.
