100 Artists’ Open Houses in Miniature

Join Artillery on a flight of fancy and make a home from home

Artists and residents in Edmonton, Enfield and beyond are invited to join us in creating up to 200 miniature homes to be displayed in Fore Street. Artillery are distributing empty plain miniature homes – you will immediately recognise these as bird boxes. You are invited to embellish these in a style of your choosing and be part of our exhibition: Bird Box Avenue.

To find out how more and to pick up your bird box for its mini make-over, meet us at:
the Enfieldian Vintage Fayre, Dugdale Centre (31st March 11-5pm)
Edmonton Green Library (3rd April 4:45-6:45pm)
or Ponders End Park - Spring Opening and Creative Market Event (9th April, 1-4pm)

Collect a bird box from staff on reception at the Dugdale Centre, Enfield Town. (Check with the Dugdale for opening hours)
or from Craft Guerrilla, Unit 37, Wood Street Indoor Market, Walthamstow
or email for other collection opportunities to be announced shortly

All transformed bird boxes are to be returned by April 21st.

We will collect the bird boxes in again at Edmonton Green Library (21st April 1-5pm)
You can also drop your bird boxes to us via the Dugdale Centre anytime until 21st April
You can also drop them back to our office at The Mill, 7-11 Coppermill Lane, Walthamstow E17 7HA by 23rd April at the latest.

We will start to install the collection along Fore Street, inside and out, on April 23rd for our Bird Box Avenue exhibition. The exhibition will be in place for one month.

Bird Box Avenue is part of Artillery's Make Yourself at Home programme of exhibitions and performances in Fore Street. In April and May visitors to Fore Street will find a Street of Blue Plaques celebrating the everyday achievements of residents past, will be transported home by a time travelling tram conductor, will join the sculptures of two boys Sitting Around and will read some home truths on our Spinning a Yarn Home Page.

Make Yourself at Home is supported by an A1010 commission awarded by London Borough of Enfield Cultural Services, funded by the Outer London Fund, GLA.

Make Yourself at Home is a collaboration led by Artillery in partnership with six principle artists: poet Penny Rutterford, textile artist Carolyn Abbott, visual artist Danny Coope, photographer and graphic designer Paul Lindt, writer and games creator Dave Dow, sculptor Esther Neslen.
