|Artillery is an arts development organisation based in Walthamstow, North East London, established by the creative team behind the E17 Art Trail. Artillery is a not for profit, community interest company led by Directors, Laura Kerry and Morag McGuire, working with a collective of freelance creative professionals and dedicated volunteers.
Artillery draws on the interdisciplinary practice of its team to enable creative collaborations with artists and resident populations in specific locations. Artillery applies its experience in project management, curation, installation, performance, participative practice and publicity to initiate and celebrate creative collaborative projects.
Artillery provides opportunities for professional development and support to creative practitioners in Waltham Forest and South England. One of its core approaches to achieving this is delivering the E17 Art Trail.
It does this through a series of networking meetings, peer mentoring sessions, emailed news bulletins and online forums, primarily working towards but not limited to the E17 Art Trail each year.
Artillery was launched in September 2006 with 'No Artist is an Island' an artist's residency and project space demonstrating the demand for arts provision locally and the shape that provision could take.
Having identified a vast network of creative practitioners Artillery began to develop the unique festival model established for the E17 Art Trail and apply it to new projects and other festivals including Appetite, Words Over Waltham Forest and Cultivate. Artillery's ambition is to curate projects that showcase creative talent locally and allow many more ideas to flourish.
We are very fortunate to have the following local people sharing their insight and experience as we develop our business strategy and our creative practice. As Walthamstow residents they have direct experience of our work to date, it's impact locally and their own perspective on the possibilities for securing a sustainable future for our projects.
