About the event
An afternoon of live demos, workshops and repair specialists on hand to fix your household items including:
BIKE MAINTENANCE WORKSHOPS: Book your place for this workshop by Joyriders introducing you to the essentials of bike maintenance and repair Book here for 1pm
SKILL SHARE & REPAIRS FOR OUTDOOR CLOTHING: Outdoor clothing specialist, Beccy of Feral Crayon & Utilifolk, shares tips for extending the life of your outdoor clothing in time for the festival and camping season - bring your outdoor gear for on the spot repairs or repair recommendations.
SOFT TOY & TEDDY BEAR HOSPITAL with Katherine Penton, Toy Surgeon for They Shout Hello. Katherine will show you how to perform your own 'guided surgery' and on the spot repairs on the day. For more complicated mends, Katherine can triage your toy and book them in to her repair service based in Leyton.
MEET SLOW FASHION CHANGEMAKERS from London College of Fashion who will be holding a one-stop upcycling drop-in where you can come and reimagine, redesign and breathe new life into your old clothes. You will be able to re-design or mend your clothing and receive expert upcycling and mending advice.
GUIDED REPAIRS and TIPS FOR OUTDOOR KIT with Laure and Maël from Decathlon to help you extend the life of your tent... backpack... air mattress and more for the camping season ahead.
GIVE and TAKE: Pick up surplus toys, clothes, books, and household and outdoor items all with lots of life still in them. Or bring your own good condition unwanted items for someone else to re-home.
ELECTRICAL REPAIRS with FOREST FIXERS and GEEK CAFE: first come first served, Forest Fixers volunteers will diagnose and repair (when possible) your portable home electricals (sorry - no microwaves).
DR BIKE: first come first served, bike maintenance specialists can do running repairs or diagnose more involved issues with recommendations on next steps.
TRY out adapted bicycles with All Ability Cycles.
TEST RIDE CARGO BIKES and find out about Waltham Forest Council's Cargo bike borrowing scheme.
POND DIP with The Hive and find out about the urban ecology of the park (from 2pm).
MAKE a bottle top mosaic with Leytonstone Toy Library, you will be part of creating new artworks for the park with designs inspired by the trees, plants and creatures of Langthorne Park. CREATE A CARNIVAL MASK or SHAKER inspired by carnival traditions and their connection to nature for Leyton Más with Anna and Jennie from GB Carnival using repurposed materials.
