About the event

This month we are inspired by The Big Draw, a nationwide festival celebrating drawing. We have invited illustrators iella and Joshua Grier to share their skills and interests with you in two drop in workshops.

Meet iella, a freelance designer and artist specialising in illustration, street art and drawing. Her work includes creating storyboards, designing products and board games. Previous employers include Warner Media's Cartoon Network. Her style is influenced by 90s animation, video games and nature, and she especially loves drawing birds which she exhibited on the E17 Art Trail this summer. She also plays Dungeons and Dragons.

Meet Joshua Grier, a freelance concept artist specialising in props, vehicles and toy design. He was a keen model maker grewing up which informs his current work and is inspired by organic natural forms that he incorporated in his vehicle design. Past clients include R8 Games where Joshua worked on the video game Pacer and he worked on concept designs for Make Way, hosted on Steam. Joshua grew up in Walthamstow and also works as a firefighter!

The drawing workshops will run from 12-3pm

We will be using paper and pens in this workshop, but we can incorporate drawing on the computers if you wish, or bring along your own tablet if you enjoy working in this way.

If you are unsure of drawing your own designs from scratch, iella also has a set of stickers she and a colleague have designed to help you build characters from their selection of super hero accessories.

Games design with Dave Darch, from 11am-3pm

Join Dave our lead artist each month in the games design room for a relaxed session doing coding, animation and music. We have Rasberry Pi 5 kits to try out and Dave is also hoping you can help him develop his robotic orchestra project ready for an event in November.
