Some Kind of Hack Space - November

This month, across all of our projects, we doing lots of work about repair and reuse of our everyday items.

This Saturday we have:

• Laptop Repairs - Bring along your laptops for diagnosis and repairs (*where possible) with Sami from the Forest Fixers. Find out how to maintain and clean them, upgrade memory and replace parts. Open up and take a look inside laptops with volunteers from the Geek Cafe.

  
  

• Team Repair Kits - retro games controllers for you to diagnose and fix. Team Repair nurtures STEM interests, repair skills, and sustainable mindsets, by teaching you how to fix broken electronic gadgets. https://www.team.repair/

  
  

• Sashiko - a Japanese visible mending technique to repair your clothes with local designer Mika Semibon.

  Using Mika's beautiful stencil designs to create the patterns we will learn the art of Sashiko

• Games Design -Join Dave our lead artist each month in the games design room for a relaxed session with coding, animation, music and retro games.

Some Kind of Hack Space is for young people age 14-25 and it's free.

We hope some of you will like to join us for some informal work experience at our Reuse and Repair Fair on Saturday 30 November at Big Creative Academy in Walthamstow to help younger children try out the Team Repair kits. Come along this Saturday to get familiar with the kits. Please let me know if you are interested to do this and we can give you more details.

We will also be asking for a little feedback about our project, and perhaps take some photos or film if you are happy to do this.
